The ancient Library of Alexandria was one of the most extensive and important libraries in the ancient world, founded in Alexandria, Egypt, probably during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus in the 3rd century BCE. It was part of a larger research institution known as the Mouseion (the origin of our word “museum”), which was dedicated to the Muses. This magnificent institution sought to gather all human knowledge, containing a vast collection of papyrus scrolls (with estimates ranging from 40,000 to over 400,000 at its peak). It drew prominent scholars, scientists, and thinkers from all over the ancient world, who lived, studied, and worked there, making significant contributions to various fields such as mathematics (Euclid), astronomy (Eratosthenes, who calculated the circumference of the Earth), and literature.

After the Photo stop of Bibliotheca Alexandrina  we’ll head to one of the most famous restaurant in Alexandria Athineos restaurant , it was built in 1900.
